GOAL:
How to set up Actuate Report Server when using NAT.
GOAL:
Not wanting to use HTTP.
FIX:
This information was obtained from the Actuate KBase.
SUBJECT:
Socket connect failed (http 500 error) viewing dHTML reports
DESCRIPTION:
symptom:
Customer can login through ReportCast and browse the encyclopedia but when trying to view a report, the frameset doesn't load and after a few minutes, an error appears
An error has occurred:
http error code: 500
Error description Socket connect failed. Please retry your request in a few minutes
Diagnosis:
ReportCast is unable to make a viewserver connection/the viewserver can't open a connection back to Reportcast
Solution:
1. Actuate does not support dynamic NAT, so if Reportcast and Report Server are on different machines, only static NAT is supported between them.
2. The Reportcast machine may be passing Report Server the wrong IP address; Report Server uses this IP address when trying to open a viewserver connection back to the ReportCast machine. Set AC_IP_ADDRESS_OVERRIDE on the ReportCast machine.
