GOAL:

Is it necessary to dump and load my database when upgrading from an earlier 32bit Progress 9.1x database license to a 64bit Progress 9.1x database license on HP-UX 11 (64bit)?

GOAL:

Is it necessary to dump and load my database when upgrading to a Progress 64bit 9.1x database license from a Progress 9.1x 32bit database license on HP-UX 11 (64bit)?

GOAL:

Do I have to dump and load the database when the Progress 9.1x bit versions are different on HP-UX 11 or HP-UX 11i?

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.1x
HP-UX 11 64-bit
HP-UX 11 32-bit

FIX:

It is not necessary to dump and load the database. However, the Progress 9.1x 64bit executables should be installed into a new directory structure. In other words, do not install the 64bit Progress database product on top of an existing 32bit Progress database installation.
Since this type of product upgrade is contained within the same Progress major release, the Progress executables are optimized for a particular bit pattern, 32 or 64 bit. Thus, there are no changes to the database structure between bit versions.
