SYMPTOM(s):
Attempting to start up or to shut down a database through OS scripts.
OS scripts were moved from one Operating System to another.
** Could not recognize argument: <string>. (301)
When manually issuing the proserve or the proshut commands from an OS command prompt, the database gets started up or shut down just fine.
CAUSE:
Garbage characters are generated and included in the OS script files when transferring them from Windows to UNIX or vice-versa.
FIX:
Create the OS script files directly in the UNIX box so that they do not get garbage characters within their text when transferring them from Windows to UNIX or vice-versa.
