How to download and apply a PUP?
FIX:
PUPs are for debugging or information gathering purposes.
To download the PUP, log in to the Progress FTP site:
This can be achieved either through a web browser or an FTP application to log into the Progress FTP site.
- Using an FTP Application:
For Anonymous FTP login:
1) Go to ftp ftp.progress.com (IP address 192.77.186.1).
2) Username: anonymous.
3) Password: <enter your email address>.
4) You will be in the public area at this point,
either /ftp/pub or /ftp.
- Using a browser:
For Anonymous FTP login:
1)If the browser supports anonymous login by default when requesting a URL using the FTP protocol. Point your browser to: ftp://ftp.progress.com.
If the browser is not set up to send your email address, you will be prompted for a username and/or password. The username "anonymous" and the password is your email address.
Then download the debug module as per the file location instructions received from Progress Technical Support. The PUP is a self-extracting file, that needs to be downloaded in Binary format. It needs to be applied in exactly the same way as the 'old' Progress Patches. In other words, extract to your %DLC% directory. The 'version' file will update your Progress Version to the PUP reference.
Note that it may be necessary to have first upgraded to a specified commercial release and service pack level before applying the PUP.
