DOS Silent print Dos' PRINT utility under windows NO!
When running under Microsoft Windows, many users try to use DOS'
Print command to print their text files that are created by an
application. (ie. DOS SILENT print file.rpt).
Microsoft specifically states that use of DOS' print command is
unsupported when run from a DOS prompt from within Windows. Mostly
due to the fact that PRINT works in conjuncion with DOS' PRINT TSR.
You will get unpredictable results when using DOS' PRINT command. From
machines locking up, to the BLACK SCREEN of DEATH, to getting
disconnected by the database.
This is actually very easy to duplicate outside of Progress by
opening a DOS window and doing a PRINT file.rpt over and over again.
This is unsupported by Microsoft, therefore by default, unsupported
by Progress.
