FACT(s) (Environment):
HP-UX 11.i
SYMPTOM(s):
Progress client disconnects
Uses script to determine if user is already connected to the database.
Unix script reporting user is still connected to database.
Can't see Unix process (PID) using ps command.
CAUSE:
Script uses w command to determine if user is logged into database. This is not the best tool to determine client connectivity to a database.
FIX:
Recommend using proshut command to determine if the user is logged into the database.
Command syntax: proshut dbname
1 Disconnect a User
2 Unconditional Shutdown
3 Emergency Shutdown (Kill All)
x Exit
Select option 1 and locate user from user list.
