SYMPTOM(s):

Self-Service Character Client does not Respond to CTRL-BREAK while waiting for a record locked by another user.

CAUSE:

If a self-service character client on Windows attempts to gain a shared or exclusive lock on a record which is already held with an exclusive lock by another user, the self-service client will be forced to wait which is normal.

Unfortunately the client will not be able to stop waiting until the first user releases the lock because the CTRL-BREAK isn't stopping the wait condition for the self service character client.

FIX:

Have the Windows character clients connect remotely and the CTRL-BREAK will function normally.
