After Imaging--causes stack trace and abnormal--VMS 5.2e

on VMS v5.2e
When after imaging is enabled and the ai file is on the same physical
device as the database, the statement "MESSSAGE TODAY" returns
"MM/DD/YY/YY/YY/YY/YY" where "MM" is the current month, "DD" is the
current day, and "YY is the current year.
If after imaging is enabled and the ai file is on a different
physical device then the database, the statement "MESSAGE TODAY"
causes a stack trace and an abnormal termination of PROGRESS.
