GOAL:
How to find out what process is locking Progress shared memory on Windows NT 32 Intel, Windows 2000
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
FIX:
1. Download a utility called Process Explorer from the Sysinternals website (use your favourite search engine to locate the correct URL).
2. Install ProcessExplorer on the Windows NT or Windows 2000 machine
3. Start Process Explorer
4. Select the "View | View Handles" menu option or use the Ctrl-H shortcut
5. Use Ctrl-F to open the Process Explorer Search window
6. Use the Progress database name in the "Handle Substring" section to locate all the processes which have a handle open to Progress shared memory created for this database. To filter out irrelevant handles you can append a zero to the Progress database name "Handle Substring" section: eg. "sports2000.0". This will only show you the references to shared memory and semaphores
