GOAL:
How to troubleshoot Progress Service Pack install errors using the install.log file
FACT(s) (Environment):
UNIX
Progress 9.1x
FIX:
The service pack version being applied must match the installed Progress version file in order for the installation to complete
When proinst is run an install.log is created.
The most common error is cannot read or find versioninfo, which means the service pack being applied does not match the installed version.
The install log will display which versioninfo file is missing: versioninfo. libversioninfo.so or libersioninfo.sl.
Versioninfo is the file found in the 32-bit version of Progress.
Libversioninfo.so or libversioninfo.sl are the files found in 64-bit versions of Progress.
