FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows 98

SYMPTOM(s):
Can not establish connection from Windows 98 machine.
Could not connect to server for database <DATABASE>, errno <ERRNO>. (1432)
Windows XP clients plugged into same router can connect.
Telnet to the database port is successful
Clients could connect when they were using a machine to do DHCP.
Using port number for -S parameter
Services and host file have not be modified to resolve to names.
CAUSE:
Problem establishing connection to port number.
Although port names are not required in 9.lx, in this case the Windows 98 machine needed the port number to resolve to a port name to establish connection.
FIX:
Modify service file on Windows 98 machines to resolve to a port name.
