GOAL:

Can one client side schema holder be used with two different but same Progress/400 server schema in two different AS/400 machines?

FACT(s) (Environment):

IBM AS/400 (RISC)
Progress/400 DataServer

FIX:

No. The way the DataServer schema holder works is a little different in Progress/400 DataServer. Unlike other DataServer, Progress/400 DataServer requires schema holder in two different places - one in the AS/400 called server schema, the other one is in the client machine called the schema holder.

The client schema holder always needs to be synchronized with the server schema holder in order to work properly. The crucial part is that the schema holder contains the CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) value that is assigned the the AS/400 system. This CRC also needs to be match with the client and the server schema. Therefore it is not possible to have one schema holder for two identical Progress/400 server schema.
