FACT(s) (Environment):
Linux Intel
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows 32 Intel
SYMPTOM(s):
Progress appears not to send data to COM port.
Running Progress in a Terminal Session on a Linux server.
OUTPUT TO PRINTER also fails
Other programs running on workstation do send data to printer/com port.
CAUSE:
Since Progress runs in a Terminal session, it runs on the server machine. Anything outputted from that session to a printer or com port will be sent to ports on that server machine, and not the local workstation.
FIX:
Possible fixes include:
- Using Progress Client Networking (character client) instead of terminal sessions.
- Attaching the devices that should receive the input to the server instead of the client.
- Connecting the different machines in the network to the same device using solutions such as switchboxes, dedicated printservers and such.
