SYMPTOM(s):
Connecting with mpro is very slow
Client eventually connects with no errors
Client can connect normally to another database on the same server
Tracert shows only one hop from client to server
Telnet to the database port is successful
Connecting from client to server on the same machine is very slow
Promon shows blocked clients

CAUSE:
There is client contention for shared memory during login.
FIX:
Increase the -spin parameter. The -spin database startup parameter controls how clients access most of the shared memory structures so it is used during login.
