FACT(s) (Environment):

Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.1x

SYMPTOM(s):

Scrolling a browse with hidden columns horizontally causes GPF

Scrolling the browse by clicking in the scroll-bar itself, not by using the slider or the left/right buttons.

Only one visible column is not locked using the NUM-LOCKED-COLUMNS attribute.

There are hidden columns after the last visible column.

The browse is COLUMN-SCROLLING.

CAUSE:

Bug# 20030213-006

CAUSE:

Known issue.
A bug could cause the browse to point to a non-existent column to be scrolled into the viewport, which in turn causes a crash when trying to scroll.

FIX:

Upgrade to OpenEdge 10.0A or later release.

Workaround:
Add a calculated field containing a blank character string as the last column in the browse, and make sure this column is never hidden.
