GOAL:

Will Progress run on this machine?

GOAL:

Will Progress run with this processor?

GOAL:

Will Progress run on an HP RP5405 dual-processor machine?

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
All Supported Operating Systems

FIX:

Sometimes when customers upgrade their server or client machine, they ask whether or not Progress is supported on a particular make of chip or machine.

General points on this:

1. Progress certifies on the basis of the operating system, not the machine itself (this doesn't currently apply to Itanium chips - see below).

2. Ensure that you will be running a supported Progress and operating system configuration. Please refer to the latest Product Availability Guide & Reference for the latest updates at:
a. Go to http://www.progress.com/support
b. Select "Product Availability Guide & Reference" or "OpenEdge 10 Platform and Product Availability" in the left-hand frame.

3. We currently have limited product that is supported on the Itanium architecture. Thus as long as the chips in your new machine are RISC and not Itanium, Progress should install and run ok. See: Progress Solution P38340, "What Progress is certified against which Itanium architectures?"
