FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
SYMPTOM(s):
PROBKUP prompts "Please enter next device/file name or type 'quit' to exit" during backup process
Database is larger than 4GB
Attempting to backup database to a single file
Disk has enough space available for backup
Disk is using the FAT32 filesystem
Unable to use multiple files to backup database, database must be backed up to a single file
CAUSE:
File exceeds maximum allowed size for FAT32 filesystem
FIX:
In order to workaround the maximum 4GB filesize limitation, the database must be backed up to an NTFS volume.
On an NTFS volume, filesize is restricted only by the size of the volume itself.
