Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
Cannot execute binary file
Upgrading from Version 8.3x to Version 9.1C
Migrating the Progress V8.3x database to Progress V9.1C requires the bi file to be truncated first
Progress V8.3 removed from machine before installing V9.1C
Truncation was not performed before Progress 8.3 was removed.
Need to use the 83dbutils provided with Progress 9.x
Truncate the bi file using the V8.3 utilities under DLC/bin fails with "cannot execute binary file"
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.1C
Linux
CAUSE:
This problem scenario applies only to Progress Version 9.1C for Linux. The wrong 83dbutils files were shipped with V9.1C for Linux.
FIX:
This has been addressed in Progress 9.1D. Install Progress 9.1D or 9.1E instead.
If unable to install a later version then use the V8.3 utility files from 9.1D or 9.1E Progress version by replacing the current files in DLC/bin/83_dbutils with the new ones. The V8.3 utilities will now be able to be used as expected.
