How to keep WGSPAWN from creating a DOS window in the UIB
WGSPAWN is used in the Windows UIB to spawn a PROGRESS
DOS session that allows character-based development
inside Windows. If the user is not building
DOS/character widgets in the UIB, then they do not need
to have WGSPAWN loaded.
Since the installation puts a WGSPAWN program item in your
StartUp program group, you must remove this if you do not
want a DOS session spawned.
To accomplish this, do the following:
1. Before going into MS-Windows, edit the system.ini
file in the c:\windows directory and remove the line:
device = vwingd.386
which is located in the {386Enh} section.
2. As you start MS-Windows, just after you press ENTER
for the "win" command, press and hold the ALT key.
3. Windows will start up without processing the StartUp
group. Go into the StartUp group and delete the
WGSPAWN program item.
This should eliminate WGSPAWN from spawning a PROGRESS
DOS session.
