Can you use HP Business Copy Virtual Array product with Progress?
FIX:
HP Business Copy Virtual Array product is a replication and backup utility.
The basic position would be that Progress Software Corporation does not certify specific storage devices to be used with the PROGRESS database.
We recommend that customers who use such storage devices to increase performance or reliability of their databases should work with the vendor providing the device to convince themselves that the device, like any other component of the system will provide the reliability necessary for their specific application. Using Progress consultancy might also be of use.
We do recommend that database data and especially logs not be placed on devices with write caches that are not adequately protected from expected software, hardware, or power failures.
What must be stressed, however - the only online backup that Progress supports is that done with probkup online. So if database files are to be backed up with, e.g. Business Copy Virtual Array, then please ensure that the database is shut down beforehand.
