SYMPTOM(s):
Backup media estimates are very inaccurate for probkup when -com is used
CAUSE:
This is a known issue. For certain versions of Progress -com can give very inaccurate estimates of the amount of backup media required for larger databases.
CAUSE:
Bug# 20010911-023, fixed in 9.1D.
Bug# 20010423-005, fixed in 9.1C.
Bug# 20030110-009 for v8, not fixed since the product is mature.
FIX:
1. For version 8:
Use -scan to give an accurate reading of how much backup media will be required. Note that using -scan adds time to the backup.
2. For version 9:
Upgrade to 9.1D.
