Progress Client reading information in from a sort file is getting error 290 SYSTEM ERROR: I/O error <n> in <readit>, ret <n> file <n>, addr <n>. (290) when drive controller is faulty.
System log shows disk errors

CAUSE:
Not a Progress issue.
The problem can be caused by a disk or controller failure / error at the time a block is being read in the sort process.
FIX:
1. Replace Hard Drive controller and/or disk
2. Scan the database for data corruption caused by the failing controller
