GOAL:

Is there any way to schedule a Progress Backup as an NT service?

GOAL:

Can a Progress Backup be scheduled using Fathom Management?

FACT(s) (Environment):

Windows
Progress 9.x
Fathom
OpenEdge 10.x

FIX:

There are at least 2 ways to schedule a Progress Backup as if it were an NT scheduled task.

1) By using Progress Fathom for Management a rule can be specified to use the Progress probkup tool to backup the database at specific times, on specific days.

2) The AT scheduler service (an NT service) can be set to run a batch job which uses the Progress probkup utility to backup the database at specific times, on specific days.

There may be other 3rd party scheduler packages which can be run as NT services which can also be made to serve this function but these are the known and tested options at this time.
