SYMPTOM(s):

Getting message The item you requested to start is not networked when starting database from Progress Explorer.

Unable to control database through AdminServer

** This process terminated with exit code <number>. (8619)

** This process terminated with exit code 1. (8619)

CAUSE:

To control a database, the AdminServer requires that each database have a defined service port.
If no service port is defined then the AdminServer can start the database, but will have no further ability to monitor or control the database.

FIX:

Define the service port (-S) that will be used and restart the database.

[Progress Explorer] > Databases > DBNAME
>> Configurations > defaultConfiguration > defaultServerGroup - properties:
GENERAL > Service name or port number

NOTE: for each "ServerGroup" defined under the "DefaultConfiguration", the Service name or port number needs to be defined.

These configuration settings are recorded in the 'conmgr.properties' file in the DLC or OE 10 DLC/properties directory.
