FIX:
Writers should improve the performance on the database.
The main value for looking at whether or not to start a writer is the "Flushed at checkpoint" value under -
promon > R&D > 2. Activity Displays > 4. Page Writers
The value should be as close to 0 as possible.
Progress recommends to start one APW for each disk where the database resides.
Note that customers with a Workgroup licence would need to upgrade to an Enterprise licence, since writer functionalities are not included in the Workgroup licence.
