How to get buffer hit ratio in versions prior to 6.3 promon
In 6.3 and higher of Progress, the buffer hit ratio can be monitored
from the Activity menu in the PROMON utility.
In earlier versions, the buffer hit ratio can be calculated by
looking in the Block Access menu in PROMON as follows:
1 - (db reads/db requests)
The buffer hit ratio is used to determine the most effective setting
for the -B startup parameter to specify the size of the buffer pool
in shared memory. The goal is a buffer hit ratio of 95% or higher.
Increase -B to get a bigger buffer hit ratio.
