Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
CPU Utilization grows to 100%.
FACT(s) (Environment):
RedHat Linux 7.2
Progress 9.1x
CAUSE:
RedHat bug 59029.
When a telnet client is killed, the telnet server does not kill a child process
which is sleeping in a select() call. When a Telnet session is exited improperly (CTRL C), the VIM process could result in a runaway process or a CPU Storm.
FIX:
Apply RedHat patch util-linux-2.11n-8.
