FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
SYMPTOM(s):
Error installing Progress
All windows programs are stopped
Anti-virus program is disabled
No Progress processes show in task manager.
Error occurs when the following is displayed: Installing 4GL Server: 4GL Server (m) Installing file: _logview.exe
Error: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (c:/Program files/Progress/bin/_mprosrv.exe)
CHANGE:
Installing a newer version of Progress on a machine.
CAUSE:
A defunct progress process has file handles to a require file cached.
FIX:
One solution is to make sure that Adminserver and Proservice are set to start manually or disabled and reboot.
