SYMPTOM(s):

<file-name> is missing, shutting down... (4195)

lk is missing, shutting down... (4195)

.lk is missing, shutting down... (4195)

FACT(s) (Environment):

All Supported Operating Systems
Products / Versions
OpenEdge Category: Database

CAUSE:

When Progress is started the Broker does periodic checks on database files on the disk.

In cases when the file check can not be performed due to resource problems or hardware failures the Broker may shutdown the database to preserve database integrity.

FIX:

In some instances a program which absorbs 100% CPU utilization for a period of time (during the period the Broker makes it's file system checks) the Broker may be unable to complete its programmed tasks and may shutdown the database.

Review the operating system resource monitors to determine if this is occurring and find out what process is using 100% CPU then contact the appropriate vendor to discuss why the process is absorbing so much CPU.
