Client connecting to database gets prowin32 error
Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION in protrace file
You can connect from the server, but not the client.

CAUSE:
Updates to Microsoft Office were installed resulting in a replacement of the original mscal.ocx with an updated version which caused the problem.
FIX:
Microsoft office has an mscal.ocx that is a newer version than the one we use in 9.1C Rename the new one and put the older version in the Windows directory and the clients work.
