SYMPTOM(s):
Getting error 834 when starting after-imaging:
** Cannot do AIMAGE/2PHASE BEGIN. You must backup the database first. (834)
probkup online was used to backup the database.
CAUSE:
AIMAGE BEGIN fails if the database hasn't been marked as backed up since the last time it was modified. Even though in the example above nothing was being done to the data, the database was still open and so could potentially still be modified. On top of this, the last open date and time stamp does in fact also count as a modification to the database, and that will only be written into the .db when the database is shut down. prbkup online doesn't mark the database as backed up. This is a feature that goes towards ensuring data integrity.
FIX:
1. Ensure that the database is shutdown.
2. Backup the database.
3. If an os utility is used to backup the database, mark it as backed up.
4. Start after-imaging.
