Status: Unverified

SYMPTOM(s):

Database crashes intermittently with 1124 errors.

The log file indicates the same DB key for each 1124.

SYSTEM ERROR: wrong dbkey in block. Found <dbkey>, should be 0 (1124)

A full, cold reboot, of the entire machine and still get 1124 errors with the same DB key thus verifying that this is not memory corruption.

FACT(s) (Environment):

All Supported Operating Systems

CAUSE:

This indicates there is corruption in the database.

Hardware failure is the most likely cause of this type of error.

Review the machine system logs may give an indication of what caused the corruption.

Example:
A problem with a disk drive or a controller can create this type of problem.

Example:
Problems with system or controller memory can also trigger this error.

FIX:

If the error persists with identical reported dbkeys or blocks then this is most likely physical hardware corruption.

Restoring from backup may be the best choice.
Check the database log file for when the 1124 error began.

A backup restored from a date/time before the error occurred may not have the corruption.
The DBRPR utility may be used to attempt repair of the database.
This will most likely require deleting damaged blocks from the database and if data blocks are removed then most likely records will be lossed.

Before using DBRPR Technical Support should be contacted to review the situation.
