SYMPTOM(s):
NameServer crashing
ERROR: An unhandled exception was received. Please report this to Progress.
ERROR: Exception: java.io.IOException: Connection refused (8217)
ERROR: Exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset by peer (8217)
CAUSE:
The NameServer is inundated with continous CGIIP process requests. When this occurs, the java layer receives an exception from the UDP protocol, causing JAVA TCP saturation.
Failure is specific to these platforms:
- Linux RedHat 6.2 - JDK 1.1.8
- UnixWare 7.1.1 - JDK 1.1.8
- Windows 2000 - JDK 1.2.2_007
FIX:
The problem (affecting platforms Linux RedHat 6.2, UnixWare7.1.1, Windows 2000) is not seen on Progress 9.1C. Upgrade all components to Progress 9.1C.
