FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.1D
SYMPTOM(s):
You cannot run the <utility> from a remote machine. (2259)
Getting error 2259 when performing a proshut against a remote database
You cannot run the Progress Monitor from a remote machine. (2259)
proshut <db-name> -C disconnect <user-num>
proshut <db-name> -C list -H <hostname> -S <port>
Can not disconnect user in batch mode from a remote machine
CAUSE:
This is expected behavior.
The proshut command -C list and -C disconnect <x> cannot be performed when the database is on a remote machine.
The documentation does not reflect this.
FIX:
The command proshut -C disconnect must be executed on the machine where the database process is running.
1. First use, proshut <db-name> -C disconnect
2. Then type the user number to disconnect.
The documentation has been updated in the OpenEdge 10.1B release
