GOAL:
Why is Progress / OpenEdge not working after I untarred the Service Pack directly into the installation directory?

FIX:
There are some files within the Service Pack tar which match names within the Progress installation directory.
Some of the Progress installation may have become corrupted.
For this reason it will be necessary to completely reinstall your version of Progress then untar the Service Pack into an entirely separate directory as mentioned in the Installation Notes for the Service Pack.
Then follow the rest of the installation steps for the Service Pack.
