CorVu and slow performance
Performance is slow via 4GL as well as SQL92 clients
Progress patch 9.1C25
Performance degradation when waiting for results from server.
Buffer Hit rate not in recommended range of 95% or higher
Using multi-processor machine with ample RAM but still have slow performance.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows 2000
Progress 9.1C
CAUSE:
Not making use of multiple processors as they are not running with -spin parameter.
FIX:
Modify database startup parameters per following recommendations:
1. Increase -B (due to 82% Buffer Hit Rate)
2. Add -spin for locking and blocked clients based on output from promon.
