Database appears to hang.
promon shows millions of records being accessed and millions of record locks.
CAUSE:
The database only seemed to be hanging. A "find last .. exclusive" statement without an index was being used, so the records were being read sequentially (and slowly). Users were misinterpreting this behaviour as a hang.
FIX:
Ensure that an appropriate index is used.
