FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
SYMPTOM(s):
Errors 831, 832, 833, 1046 when rolling forward onto standby database.
The database was last changed <date>. (831)
** The after-image file expected <date 2>. (832)
** Those dates don't match, so you have the wrong copy of one of them. (833)
Roll forward of file <ai file name> did not complete normally (1046)
CAUSE:
A probkup without -norecover was done of the standby database onto which the ai extents should have been rolled forward. Therefore, crash recovery was carried out as part of the probkup process, and the resulting change to the database prevented the rollforward.
FIX:
1. Restore the last backup of the production database.
2. Roll forward the relevant ai extents.
Ensure in the future that if you want to backup the standby database:
1. Use probkup -norecover. Or -
2. Use os utilities instead. Ensure that all the files belonging to the database are backed up.
