FACT(s) (Environment):
Caldera Open UNIX/SCO UnixWare
SCO OpenServer
Linux Intel
SYMPTOM(s):
Binary load did not load past 2 gigabytes.
Dumped .bd file is greater than 2 gigabytes.
CAUSE:
Progress dumped a .bd a file greater than 2 gigabytes because the Operating System allowed it. However, Progress cannot recognize data past 2 gigabytes because of the limitation preventing the enabling large files for Unixware/Caldera.
FIX:
One way to work around the problem is to lower the ulimit for the user who is doing the dump/load and dump the data again. This will force the binary dump utility to create multiple .bd files smaller that 2 gigabytes.
