GOAL:

Is it safe to stop a database with dbman when a hung appserver process is still attached.

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.1x

FIX:

It is safe to use this command when a client disconnects ungracefully and leaves an Appserver Process connected to the database.

Using the -stop with dbman send a Database shutdown request to the Admin Server. The Admin Server, in turn, issues a proshut -by against the specified database. If connections are not removed after a certain amount of time, a Proshut -F is issued to destroy the PID of the user process.
