SYMPTOM(s):

DLL not loaded, not able to determine Progress Service Pack level, exiting

Installation of Service pack fails with "DLL not loaded" error

Unable to install Service Pack on Solaris

Cannot install Service Pack on Solaris

Cannot Read VersionInfo when installing Service Pack

Unable to get version info from $DLC directory

Unable to get version info from "/usr/dlc/pro9" directory

CAUSE:

Installing 64bit version of service pack on the top of 32bit Progress product.

FIX:

Download and install 32bit version of service pack.

Verify your Progress product bits using "$DLC/bin/showcfg $DLC/progress.cfg" and do a search for "Port Number". The number corresponding to 32bit version of product is 11. 64bit version of Progress has number 39.
