GOAL:

What are the options that Progress offer as solutions for database replication

GOAL:

What products does Progress offer for database replication

FIX:

Starting in Progress 8.1A, Database Replication Triggers (REPLICATION-CREATE, REPLICATION-DELETE, REPLICATION-WRITE)
were implemented into the product, the use of these triggers involves some additional code that the
developer has to create to perform the replication itself.

Starting in Progress 9.1D, we now offer Fathom High Availability Replication (FHAR).
FHAR uses the Progress After Image files as its foundation to implement database replication.
Thus, it only allows one way replication.
In other words, FHAR can only perform Progress-to-Progress database replication.

Another option for Replication is PeerDirect.
PeerDirect product is capable of performing two way database replication.
It uses the PeerDirect Replication Engine to perform its work.
In fact, PeerDirect can be configured to use a non-Progress data source.
Thus, data from a 3rd party database (i.e. MS SQL Server) can be replicate to a Progress database.
This product, however, is not supported with any version of Progress greater than 9.1x.
