How to start and stop a Database in UNIX from Windows
GOAL:
Is it possible to start and shut a UNIX database from Windows ?
FACT(s) (Environment):
UNIX
Progress 9.1x
OpenEdge 10.x
FIX:
Progress Explore can manage the DB, AppServer and WebSpeed brokers by attaching to the AdminServer.
Once you have all the Progress on UNIX environment working it will be possible to start the admin server using the command:
proadsv -start
This will start the AdminServer to the default port 20931.
From Windows start the Progress Explorer and select ADD PROGRESS SERVER.
Define the server name, user and password and press ok.
This will create a server icon, select it press the connect server icon from the tool bar to connect. This connection by default uses port 20931.
When connected you can define the brokers for the DB, WebSpeed or AppServer.
