Progress 8.3E supports ORACLE 8i client libraries and ORACLE supports 8i client connecting to 9i RDBMS. As long as the Progress client connects through ORACLE 8i client libraries, and not directly through the ORACLE 9i client libraries, it is supported. Use ORACLE client networking (i.e., SQLNET, NET8) to connect to ORACLE 9i.
