FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress/400 DataServer

SYMPTOM(s):

Attribute changes in Progress/400 Data Dictionary are not reflected in DDS source.

Changes to field format or attributes like Null Capable do not change the DDS source file. So, if the DDS file was created with ALWNULL, removing Null Capable in the Data Dictionary will not remove ALWNULL from the DDS description on the AS/400.

CAUSE:

The attributes affected by the Progress/400 Data Dictionary are stored in the dataserver and not is its physical and logical file description. These attributes apply to Progress clients only. So non Progress Native AS/400 clients will not have access to them.

FIX:

Non Progress clients should apply these attributes programmatically.
