POST-INSTALLATION CONFIGURATION ISSUES:
=======================================

The following is a list of known issues that relate to
post-installation configuration of Release 6.3E.

* This release of the NT server supports the Netbios and TCP/IP
communication protocols. The default protocol is Netbios.

* You must perform all database maintenance with a Release 6.2M
client connected to the server. You cannot use Version 7 clients
to perform database maintenance.

KNOWN ISSUES FOR RELEASE 6.3E
==============================

The following is a list of known problems in PROGRESS RELEASE 6.3E.

* When you start a Before-Image Writer (BIW), an After-Image
Writer (AIW), or an Asynchronous Page Writer (APW) from an icon,
use the CMD command with the /k parameter to start a new instance
of the command interpreter. For example, to start the Before-Image
Writer, use the following command.

CMD /k proBIW.bat <database>

The /k parameter enables the writers to start correctly by
leaving the window open after the CMD command is carried out.
The windows must remain open for the entire server session for
the background writers to function properly. If you do not use
CMD with the /k parameter, Windows NT generates the following
message.

"KERNEL32.dll failed"

* It is not possible to run FAST TRACK against the demo
database provided with the NT server. Attemtping to do so will
generate a "_menu record not on file" error message. Existing
FAST TRACK databases brought over to NT and new databases
converted to a FAST TRACK database via the CONVFT utility will
not experience this problem.
