SYMPTOM(s):
proserve does not start database
Running proserve
Unable to create socket, errno=0. (788)
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
CAUSE:
This error can be caused by tcp configuration. The error can be reproduced by changing the number assigned to tcp in the protocol file located in %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc .
The error can occur although ping , ftp and CRT work without problem.
FIX:
To solve the problem check in the protocol file if tcp is assigned to
the number 6 . If this is true, check if TCP/IP is installed properly . Reinstall TCP if necessary with the assistance of the OS vendor.
